Marvel Comics The Untold Story

I just finished reading Marvel Comics The Untold Story by Sean Howe and if you have not already read it I can most heartily recommend it.  Sean Howe provides an engaging narrative covering the entire history of The House of Ideas, re-enforcing some of my opinions and opening my eyes regarding some of the characters behind the scenes.

  1. Gosh, I've gone back and forth on whether or not to get this. I've no doubt that it's a page-turner and well-written--but I guess I'm just concerned that it may be too much of a splash of cold water in my face regarding Marvel staff and the company itself.

Aside from that, I'm glad Sean Howe is getting such good word-of-mouth on his book. It seems to get kudos from wherever reviews of it appear.

    1. As long as you don't view Jim Shooter as a saint or believe the dawn of Marvel's Silver Age as either entirely due to Stan or entirely due to Jack you will be ok.

As for the greedy corporate sharks and speculators of the 90s onwards, I am not sure anyone has any sympathy for them!
