Super Sons: Superman Junior and Batman Junior

Do you seek an escape from an insane world? New 52 not floating your boat? Superman too grim and gritty? Legion of Super-Heroes cancelled again? Ben Affleck not your ideal Baman? Too many X comics, too many Avengers comics? Doc Ock as Spider-man confusing your inner fan boy? Never fear Bob Haney is the solution to all your problems!

Bob Haney will forever be celebrated, at least by me, for his incredible run on Brave and the Bold but we should not ignore the Super Sons. Editor Murray Boltinoff knew when he took over World's Finest that what he needed was zany Haney.  These stories were not from Earth 2 but can only be described as from planet Haney. Nick Cardy drew the covers and Dick Dillin provided the interioir art so even if your head explodes as you attempt to rationalise the plot and continuity you are guaranteed a visual feast.

If you enjoy classic Brave and the Bold, by the way isn't the animated Brave and the Bold great, and you are ready to sign up for a trip into an alternative world that only existed in the fertile imagination of Bob Haney then tell a loved one to get Saga of The Super Sons for you for Christmas!

  1. Page for page the Super-Sons collection is one of the most entertaining reads I've had in ages. Love the Dillin artwork, and love the scripts. They are wild and weird and totally Haney.

  2. I just reviewed the first in the series about two weeks ago over at the Bronze Age Babies and found it to be quirky fun! Looking forward to a possible review over here!

    Best,
